Forecast

Today will be windy with light showers developing in the Victorian resorts in the afternoon and then extending up in to NSW overnight. Showers will turn to heavy rain overnight and the early hours of Wednesday in the north with significant damage to the snow cover. Some areas could see over 50mm of the wet stuff before we see snow. Wednesday will be a mix of showers with snow about the higher areas with snow lowering later in the day and into the night, with some nice new snow by Thursday morning. Winds will be very strong nudging 100km/h about the peaks so it's likely we will see some lifts on hold. Snowfalls will become heavier on Thursday with the snow level dropping to around 1300m with winds once again around 100km/h about the peaks, which should affect some lifts. Friday is the most pleasing day where will see widespread heavy snowfalls with blizzard conditions (winds up around 120km/h about the peaks causing lift closures) and snowfalls possibly reaching as low as 700m. Most resorts will be looking to add around 25-35cm on this day alone. Roads will be chaotic with heavy snow covering the low lying areas, so be prepared for slow trips in and out of resorts. Saturday will see only light snow showers above 1200m although the winds will still remain strong. Sunday will see conditions ease and the wind start to die down. Most of next week looks pretty good with light winds and some sunny days. Anyone heading out into the backcountry take care as there could be some slippage due to the heavy pre-frontal rain we saw before the heavy snow. This dump should give us enough snow to see out the season and it's likely resorts will ease up on any snowmaking from here on in. 15 Day Resort Foreasts: https://www.snowatch.com.au/15-day-forecasts/ Long Range Forecast: https://www.snowatch.com.au/long-range-forecast/
