Boil Water Alert
A boil water alert is in immediate effect from Friday 10 October 2025 for all properties connected to the Berridale, East Jindabyne, and Jindabyne water supplies. Residents and businesses in the following locations must boil all water before use: -Berridale - East Jindabyne - High Country Estate - Jindabyne - Lakewood Estate - Leesville - The Station Resort - Tyrolean Village In consultation with NSW Health, Council has implemented this boil water due to recent weather conditions creating high levels of turbidity – a technical term meaning cloudy, dirty-looking water – in Lake Jindabyne. The water supply turbidity for the above locations is currently above the recommended safe level. The boil water alert is in effect now. All water must be boiled until Council announces that the alert has been lifted. How to boil your water and make it safe In the above locations, tap water needs to be brought to a “rolling boil” to make it safe for consumption. This means water used for drinking, food preparation, toothbrushing, mouth-rinsing, face-washing, and for giving to pets and other animals. A “rolling boil” describes the intense bubbling and bursting of water when it’s kept at a temperature of 100° Celsius. You can do this in a pot on your stove, or with modern kettles that have an automatic shut-off switch. Once the rolling boil process is complete, allow the water to cool. Once cool, store the safe water in a clean, lidded container in your fridge. You can also use bottled water for human or animal consumption during the alert.
