SNOWY MONARO LGA RFS update from NSW RFS - Snowy Monaro District Wednesday 7 January 2026 A HIGH Fire Danger Rating is currently in place for the Snowy Monaro LGA. There is potential for the Fire Danger Rating to elevate to an Extreme Rating on Friday or Saturday, weather dependent. All Fire Permits are suspended at this time. Snowy Monaro District RFS ask all community members of the Snowy Monaro, and those visiting the region to remain aware of the current fire risk conditions. Please continue refraining from undertaking any hot works/mowing or slashing in open areas, together with keeping hot vehicle exhausts away from areas of dry grasses, so no fires are unnecessarily started. With lightning activity within the Monaro over the last couple of days, we remind landowners to check their land for any possible ignitions. Let's all do our bit in keeping our community safe.
