10 Day Outlook
It’s looking like this “Super El Niño” is really starting to get its claws in, throwing added moisture ahead of the cold fronts that have been lining up. Temperatures are also looking like they will rise, meaning snowmaking opportunities will unfortunately become very limited from here on. Today will be mostly cloudy, with gusty winds around the peaks early, easing during the day. Friday through to Sunday is looking like a great time to get out there and explore, with some sunshine at times and much lighter winds. There are a couple of weak cold fronts arriving between the 20th and 23rd, bringing showers and the chance of some snow falling up top. It’s not really anything to get too excited about, although the tail end of the system looks to be the coolest. Looking further ahead, the 26th–27th could see a slightly stronger system arrive. At this stage, I’m only going with light snow, as the high-pressure systems have been sitting too far south lately to allow these systems to really unleash their full potential over the mountains. The end of the month looks like it could bring showers and rain ahead of another group of cold fronts arriving during the first few days of September.
