Short Term Outlook

It's not good news in the mountains with showers, rain and strong winds damaging the snow cover. Winds have reached 117km/h at the top of Thredbo just before sunrise and the same at Hotham around midnight. Hotham has received 40mm, Falls Creek 31mm, Thredbo 24mm, Mt.Buller 23mm and Perisher 11mm. Showers continuing today with possible rain at times. Winds will be strong about the peaks, and possibly could affect some lifts, so check resort boards and websites for updates. We should see less lifts and terrain open today, due to the diminishing cover, and that looks set to continue after today as unfortunately, the snow melt increases. Selwyn is likely to close today due to lack of snow and Baw Baw is not far away. Gusty winds tomorrow (easing later), partly cloudy in the north with clouds and possible drizzle at times in the south. Saturday, mostly fine with winds easing. Sunday mostly fine with clouds and winds increasing later. 🐸
