10 Day Outlook
It's not good news in the mountains this morning with with showers yesterday damaging the cover even further. Some big totals in the north with Thredbo receiving 80mm over the last two days, Perisher 74mm, Falls Creek 35mm, Hotham 31mm and Mt Buller 17mm. Mountain Ops staff will have to assess the damage this morning and then make a call on which lifts/runs will close (and there should be quite a few). Possible early drizzle this morning, clearing in the south early and then a bit later in the NSW resorts. Winds moderate about the peaks and easing. There is a possibility that Perisher may be able to make some snow in the early hours of tomorrow, hopefully topping up Front Valley to keep it open a bit longer. The following 5 days look to be mostly fine with light winds, so if good conditions for a final slide on what slopes are remaining open. Unfortunately there isn't anything positive to report on in the long range outlook. Temps will remain mild and any fronts that come through will drop showers and rain instead of snow. Late next week showers and rain could put the final nail in the coffin. I wish I had better news, but the strong El-Nino pattern is blocking any cold from reaching the mountains.
