NPWS Horse count
In late October, NPWS will conduct a new count of feral horses in Kosciuszko National Park. Brumby advocates may again claim that the methods used by NPWS are wrong, and may refer to their 'independent recount' conducted earlier this year. That recount has been thoroughly debunked. It did not include any attempt to account for horses present but hidden in trees or otherwise unseen. It also ignored the section of Kosciuszko with the highest density of horses, and made several other errors. A detailed critique of the 'independent recount' is now online at invasives.org.au/publications/counting-horses-in-kosciuszko-a-critique-of-the-independent-survey/ Image: feral horses head for the trees, Long Plain, KNP.
